Pilates is exercises designed to improve control of movement, flexibility and strength. It focuses particularly on important muscles around your spine that help to support it on a daily basis and during activity. The original Pilates exercises can be hard for people with aches and pains so have been adapted to be suitable for patients with pain, particularly back pain, and are now used by large numbers of physiotherapists, including us. If the exercises are not controlled correctly or attempted at too higher level they can cause pain or make your symptoms worse. It is therefore important that they are taught correctly and performed at the right level.

The clinic runs Pilates classes which are suitable for people with muscle or joint problems.  You will require an assessment first to ensure it will not aggravate your symptoms and teach you the basic principles before starting in the class.  Currently classes run on a Tuesday evening from 5.30pm at Mappleborough Green School, near Studley.
